Entire Board attended

Graeme brought the meeting to order and did an introduction of the board. He also let the members know that Kim has setup folders for the developments that are happening in Glenmore (More details to follow) as well as a map of the Glenmore area.
He asked for the members input on our newsletter in the fall and any suggestions they have for content.
Advised of the meeting with Mayor Sharon Sheperd and that they have requested another in the fall.
Graeme let the members know that the more people we have signed up the bigger the voice we have with the City.
Several issues/concerns that GVCA brought forward in this meeting.
Safety
Flashing lights
Proposed two sets one at the intersection of Glen Meadows which has been installed. And a second at the corner of Watson. Graeme will be sending a follow up letter on this since there has been another accident at this location.
Concern for our residents because of the constant line ups at the Landfill.
Community
Graeme asked again about Glenmore having a community center and sports complex.
Introduction of guest speaker Gary Stephens
Gary is the planning Specialist for the City with over 35 years experience the last 20 in Kelowna.
Gary talked at length about the review of the Official Community Plan (OCP)
Gary also confirmed that the associations have a voice and the city does listen to our concerns.
He discussed that everything takes time and resources and do they want to see the OCP continue, they are asking for input and for people to get involved. They are in the pre planning stages and are looking at other municipalities budgets as an example.
They are working on the 08 budget request and proposal and then council will need to approve.
They will be holding open houses and sending out surveys looking for input.
Looking at a 20 year plan with updates to policy. They are also looking at Transportation and land uses likely not available until later stages of 09, this us usually 90% of the budget.
City recognized that Glenmore needs a District Park and is currently looking at a site review. They would need approx 30 hectors of land, which would likely be ALR land given the size.
UBC will be double it;s current size by 2010 with over 7500 students with a large number needing housing. They are also looking at busing needs including a U Pass. Students could catch the pass any time from any location saving  on the need for parking.
Glenmore area growth, Highlands approved 2200 homes only have 220 built to date.
Building starts are already over the capacity expected.
Other areas in the city are having the same issues ie Mission.
Village Centers, Kane/Glenmore
Additional commercial space has been authorized could include some retail as well as commercial.
Several transportation issues were discussed including Glenmore connection to UBC. Skyline, expected opening. Gary suggested using the website to see the most up to date information on transportation concerns.
Gary was also asked about all the streets in Kelowna with different names like Spall/Glenmore, High/Summit, Gary will take concerns back to the City.

Graeme introduced Dave Sargent and Mark Cotch from Troika Developments.
Mark did a presentation on their future site and is asking for input from Glenmore residents.
This development will take approx 5 years to build with over 1200 new homes. But they would like to get the community involved from the early stages.
Troika is a local company and they all work and live in Kelowna so community is also important to them.
They asked for the Associations support.
Justin addressed the group and the importance of being a member, challenged everyone to bring two guests to our AGM meeting in November. Also to revisit the cost to join and do we want to have it a $1.00 for a life time and not $10.00 per year. It is about the number of members we have, this is what gives us a voice with the City.
Justin also asked people to think about becoming involved on the board.
Graeme
Thanked everyone for coming and asked again for input on the newsletter.
Issues to be discussed at the AGM whether the association will support Troika.
